Screams
The review team attended Screams on a chilly late Friday night. Screams
is located in Waxahachie, which is not too far out of Dallas. Screams
is put on by the same people that do Scarborough Fair. Many of the
exteriors of the haunt are just amazing looking because they are
permanent year round structures.
When walking in to park, you can go through a Cemetery scene. This is a very good warm up to the haunts to follow.
There are quite a bit of things to do while at Screams. There are 4
Haunted Houses included with the price of admission. The first one we
did was the Terror Visions in 3D attraction. Before entering, you are
asked to put on 3D glasses. This is an awesome effect, and something
that I have not had much experience with. There are some pretty amazing
effects in this attraction.
The main house at Screams is called The Castle of Darkness. It has some
really well done prop work on the inside. The decorations are very
realistic, and it is loaded with actors. Of all the houses, this seemed
to be the one that I found myself jumping the most in. There are some
pretty gruesome props here as well. Try and take your time to see all
the detail.
Another haunt is called The Arcane Asylum. My favorite scare of the
whole complex is located in this haunt. There is a scene with a door
that someone is pounding on, and then whatever it is comes under the
door and it pushes the wood slats of the floor up as it chases you.
Incredibly realistic and quite scary.
The Macabre Maze is a haunted maze that is continually changing as you
walk through it. The walls are moving, so there's always a different
way to go. There are also actors in here that are really great.
The Black Hole is my other favorite haunt at Screams. You will see some
of their best scene and prop design in this area, so try and not just
run through and check out all the detail.
There are other attractions that are not included with the $19.99
admission fee. Trail of Terror is an additional 5 dollars, and it is
highly recommended if you can spare the extra amount. There is also
plenty of food and drink available! My crew has heard bad things about
Screams, but it was actually a great place to have a good time. If you
are near the Waxahachie area, you should consider Screams for a whole
night of fun. It is more of the traditional haunted attraction and
there is nothing here that is really that terrifying, but it is still a
great place to spend 20 bucks.
