Mead Manor

One of the best values near Fort Worth and Arlington is the Mead Manor/House of Wax/Temple of Anubis complex. There are three independently owned haunted attractions all sharing one plat of land. You will find tarot card readers, drinks, and eats at this collection of great haunted houses. I am a big believer in the combo tickets at almost all haunts, and this one is no exception. You could pay 10 dollars per attraction, or pay $24 and get into all three. With the combo ticket, you also get 10 percent off concessions and souvenirs.

This place starts to get scary long before you even arrive. Being a bit of a city boy, I always kind of get nervous about driving around a few minutes out of the metroplex when it's pitch black out. But I did, and we made it to Rendon alive. (The area is actually quite beautiful)

After parking the car, we got out to sort of walk around and get a feel for the place. There were some real Tarot card readers there and one of the reviewers decided to have their fortune told. We then went and talked with the owner of Mead Manor, who couldn't have been nicer. We had to wait outside for a bit while they prepared, and this really added to the suspense of everything. This gave us some time to check out the hearse they have on the property and a really creepy cemetery area.

Once inside, this place was awesome. There were so many scares and so many times I yelled. Something that really separates this attraction are the actors. There were moments that were a perfect mixture of cool and terror.There are some of the loudest screams from an actor in this haunt I have ever heard. There are also so many props of human bodies it becomes very hard to detect which are going to jump out and which are not. Seems like it would be simple to tell, but seriously, it really puts you on edge after a while. There is a clown scene in this haunt that is very good, especially the actors!

This haunt was started as a yard haunt many years ago. It has now become one of the most fun attractions around. All of my crew really enjoyed this attraction and look forward to coming back next year to see what they have in store!
